New purpose-designed three-storey studio building comprising 39 self-contained studios and four work/live units. The ground floor contains seven large multi-purpose spaces suitable for large-scale making and public display (between 237f² and 1,615 f²), the two upper floors 32 studio units ranging from 137f² to 667f². The four work/live units on the second floor average 565f². Artists' studios

Designed in consultation with industry experts from some of the world’s best theatre and venues, The Backstage Centre is East London’s newest production rehearsal and training facility. Situated in Purfleet just 11 miles east of London City Airport in a new cultural industries business zone, High House Production Park, The Backstage Centre offers a fully equipped space for all types of production rehearsal and training requirements. Set construction

Set construction

All the sets and scenery for opera and ballet at the Royal Opera House are created in the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop. A team of 30 carpenters, metalworkers and artists make the sets and scenery for more ten new productions each year as well as refurbish sets from productions already in the repertory. Apprentices also work in the Workshop learning new skills alongside the talented staff as well as attending local colleges to gain their qualifications. More about the Workshop
